REVERSIBLE STEP ONE COWL - Saturdays from 9-11am beginning May 13



Join Elizabeth to learn Mary W Martin's Fusion Method of reversible colorwork while making the Reversible Step One Cowl. Your finished cowl will be completely reversible. This class if for experienced and adventuresome knitters who are eager to learn new techniques. 

Skills taught in this class:

  • Fusion knitting technique
  • Traveling 1x1 cables
  • Cabling without a cable needle
Class Materials:
  • Pattern - Reversible Step One Cowl by Mary W Martin ($5 on Ravelry)
  • Yarn (must be purchased separately from 3 Kittens Needle Arts) - DK weight yarn: two high-contrast colors. We suggest Berroco Vintage DK or West Yorkshire Spinners Fleece BFL DK (1 skein of each color).
  • Needles - US 7/4.5mm 24" or 32" circulars or size to obtain gauge
  • Knit kit including stitch markers and locking stitch markers; yarn for life lines; cable needle (optional); pen/pencil and paper
Homework:
  • Please read through pattern and make notes of any questions you have.
  • Work a gauge swatch as follows -
    • With US 7 needles, cast on 24 sts
    • Work in garter stitch for 6"
    • Bind off and block; measure - your gauge should be 16st and 16 ridges per 4"
    • Adjust needle size if necessary 
  • Once you know you are working with the right size needles, you will need to start your project as follows before the first class -
    • With MC, cast on 78 sts for 20" cowl or 192 sts for 48" cowl (or any multiple of 6 sts if you want a different size)
    • Work through Pattern Setup Round 1 on page 4 of the pattern

Cancellation Policy - Student cancellations must be made at least one week prior to the class to receive a refund for the class fee. After that date, class fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Any yarn or supplies purchased for the class are subject to our regular return policy3 Kittens may need to cancel a class if not enough people sign up, but we try to provide other options when we can. We may need to reschedule due to weather or teacher illness.

Skill Details: Students must understand RS/WS; know how to read their knitting; be able to fix minor mistakes; understand gauge; be able to read a pattern; be able to work basic increases/decreases; know how to finish and block; be able to work slip stitches and basic cables

Instructor Bio: Elizabeth joined the 3 Kittens staff in July 2017 as a sales associate and an instructor. She enjoys knitting cables and textures. She has had several designs published which can be found on Ravelry and at www.yarn.com. Elizabeth is a certified Master Knitter.
