FLOWERY SCARF (knit) - Tuesdays from 9-11am beginning Oct 3

This is a FUN scarf to make - one leaf or wedge at a time! No seaming! All shaping is done with short rows, and you will only have 50 stitches on your needles at all times. Your scarf will be a statement piece. And because the yarn used changes colors, no two scarves will be alike.

Prerequisite Skills: Students must have previous experience working short rows.

Skills taught in this class:

  • German short rows
  • Modular knitting
  • I-cord edging
Class Materials:
  • Pattern - #29 Flowery by Susanne Ederleh
  • Yarn (must be purchased separately from 3 Kittens Needle Arts) - Sport weight yarn ~875 yards = 1 ball each of 2 contrasting colors of Schoppel Zauberball Starke 6 (75% wool, 25% polyamide; 437 yards). Please note you may need a contrast yarn for the i-cord edging. We used Berroco Vintage DK for our sample.
  • Needles - US 6/4mm 24" circular and US 4/3.5m double pointed needles or size to obtain gauge
  • Knit kit including locking stitch markers; 4 colors of highlighter markers (helpful to mark pattern sections during 1st class); pen/pencil for notes

Homework -
Please read through pattern and make notes of any questions you have.
Knit a gauge swatch as follows - With US 6/4mm needles, cast on 33 sts and work in garter for 6". Do not bind off. Measure. Adjust needle size if necessary.
