OBAN HAT (knit) - Mondays from 6-8pm beginning Jan 17



Keep warm this winter in this unisex hat featuring cables and garter stitch with a deep ribbed brim that can be folded for extra warmth or worn long for a slouchy look.

Required materials: 

  • Pattern - Oban Hat by Thea Colman ($7.00)
  • Yarn (purchased separately at 3 Kittens) - worsted weight yarn ~200-225 yards. We suggest Berroco Lanas (1-2 balls) or Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok (2 skeins)
  • Needles - US 6/4mm 16" circulars and double pointed needles - or size to obtain gauge
  • Gauge - 5.25 sts/inch in 1x1 ribbing, blocked
  • Notions - Knit Kit, including stitch markers, highlighter tape, cable needle, paper and pen/pencil


Homework:

  • Read through pattern and note any questions you might have.
  • Please complete a swatch as follows - cast on 32 sts on US 6 needles. Row 1: (k1, p1) to end. Repeat Row 1 until your piece is 6" long. Bind Off. Block. Bring swatch to class.

Cancellation Policy - Student cancellations must be made at least one week prior to the class to receive a refund for the class fee. After that date, class fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Any yarn or supplies purchased for the class are subject to our regular return policy3 Kittens may need to cancel a class if not enough people sign up, but we try to provide other options when we can. We may need to reschedule due to weather or teacher illness.

Instructor: Mary Ann
Instructor Bio: Mary Ann Brooks was born and raised in South Minneapolis and now lives in Apple Valley. She has been with 3K for 5 years and teaches beginning knitting, project classes and tool box sessions. Mary Ann started knitting when she was 7 years old and although her projects were not fabulous, she has continued knitting throughout her life and knits every day. Her knitting has improved over the years! Knitting samples for the shop is a favorite because it challenges knitting skills and requires knitting that is sometimes out of her comfort zone. Her other favorite is teaching. Mary Ann enjoys encouraging students to learn new skills either as a first time knitter or as a more experienced knitter trying a pattern that requires new skills or a different method. Mary Ann says " I imagine knitting will always be a part of my life and I hope to be with 3K for many years!"
