DELIBERATELY DROPPED STITCHES (knit) via Zoom - SUNDAY, May 2 from 2:30-3:30pm CT



Deliberately dropping stitches in your knitting can create unique and intriguing designs. In this class you will learn three decorative stitch patterns that incorporate dropped stitches. These can be used to make a variety of projects such as scarves and shawls.

Skills taught in this class:

  • Simple Drop Stitch
  • Indian Cross Stitch
  • Seafoam Pattern

Class Materials (click on the links to order your items for delivery or pick up before class; if shipping, please allow at least 5 days):
  • Yarn - Worsted weight yarn - light to medium color, smooth (no texture); wound into three separate balls
  • Needles/Hooks - US 8/5mm knitting needles (circular, straight or dpn)
  • Knit kit including cable needle, scissors, paper and pen/pencil

Students must have access to Zoom!

Homework - Make three swatches as follows:
  • Swatch 1 (Indian Cross Stitch) - Cast on 32 sts, knit 4 rows
  • Swatch 2 (Seafoam Pattern) - Cast on 36 sts, knit 2 rows
  • Swatch 3 (Simple Drop Stitch) - Cast on 26 sts. 
    • Rows 1, 3, 5, and 7 (RS) - knit
    • Rows 2, 4, 6, and 8 - purl
    • Row 9 - knit wrapping yarn 3 times around needle for each st across
    • Row 10 - purl dropping the extra wraps for each stitch
    • Repeat rows 1-10 for pattern

Instructor: Elizabeth
Instructor Bio: Elizabeth joined the 3 Kittens staff in July 2017 as a sales associate and an instructor. She enjoys knitting cables and textures. She has had several designs published which can be found on Ravelry and at www.yarn.com. Elizabeth is a certified Master Knitter.
