The Knitter's Tool Box: Lace 102 - Easy Chevron Lace - Tuesday Apr 21 6-7p

THE KNITTER'S TOOL BOX:  This series of one-hour classes is designed to increase your knitterly skill set. Choose from a variety of classes held throughout the year.

Ready to take the next step in lace knitting? This class will introduce a traditional lace pattern that is easy to count and simple enough to memorize, because the repeat is only two rows. Chevron patterns are versatile; they can be used as an all-over pattern in a scarf, sweater, or afghan or as a decorative border. Class Type: Hands On

Skills taught in this class:

  • Classic two-row chevron pattern
  • Correcting and/or adjusting for common errors without ripping back
  • Assessing the difficulty of a lace pattern
Required Materials: 
  • Yarn - Smooth, light colored DK or worsted weight yarn (wool, wool blend or cotton)
  • Needles - US 6-8/4.0-5.0mm straight or circular (24" or longer)
  • Other Materials - stitch markers (3 or more)

Homework: Using your chosen needles, cast on 40 stitches; knit two rows (one garter st ridge). DO NOT BIND OFF. Bring to class.

Cancellation Policy - Student cancellations must be made at least one week prior to the class to receive a refund for the class fee. After that date, class fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Any yarn or supplies purchased for the class are subject to our regular return policy3 Kittens may need to cancel a class if not enough people sign up, but we try to provide other options when we can. We may need to reschedule due to weather or teacher illness.

Skill Details: Level 2+ Students must know knit, purl, RS/WS, long tail cast on, bind off, and understand how to work yarnovers, k2tog, and ssk.
Instructor: Sarah
Instructor Bio: Sarah joined 3 Kittens staff in November 2019 as a sales associate. She has learned to knit while in Finland and enjoys both stranded color work and lace. Her teaching philosophy is to make new techniques approachable and clear so that knitters can expand their skill set enjoyably. She is a visual artist who knits daily and believes that knitting is a wonderful way to reduce stress - while creating warmth and beauty.
