Eyes on U (knit) - beginning Wednesday Sep 16 from 6-8pm

Knitting the Eyes on U shawl is never boring even though it's entirely done in garter stitch. The eyelet border throughout, the various sizes of the "eyes", and the surprisingly unique color variations always keep you interested!

Skills taught in this class:

  • Germanhort rows
  • Decrease bind off
  • Dealing with incorrect stitch counts
Required materials:
  • Pattern - Eyes on U by DJ Hogan ($8.50; Ravelry)
  • Yarn (purchased separately at 3 Kittens) - Urth Uneek Fingering (100% SW merino wool; 435 yards) 2 skeins and approximately 220 yards of a contrasting solid or semi-solid fingering weight yarn (we used 3K Abstract)
  • Needles - US 5-6/3.75-4mm 32" circular or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Notions - knit kit, including locking st markers and regular stitch markers

  • Read through the pattern before class - make note of any questions you may have and choose the size you wish to make
  • Gauge swatch - Using US 6 needles and Uneek Fingering yarn, cast on 30 sts; work in garter stitch for approx 5"; BLOCK and measure your swatch; adjust needle size if required to get gauge

Meets 3x

Due to Covid 19, we have new protocols for our classes that we have put in place to keep staff and students safe:

  • All classes will occur when the store is closed.
  • All classes have a maximum of 4 students and a minimum of 3 students (in order to be able to pay our instructors). Due to this very tight window, we may need to cancel classes at the last minute. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • Students are required to wear a mask (covering the nose and mouth) throughout the class.
  • Students are required to use hand sanitizer when entering the store. Hand sanitizer will also be available on the class table, and our instructors will be required to use it before and after touching any customer’s project. We encourage students to do the same.
  • We have set up our class tables to accommodate all customers with at least 6 feet of space between them and across the tables.
  • No food or drink is allowed.
  • While our bathroom is currently closed to the public, we understand that two hours is a long time to go without using the facilities. If you need to utilize our bathroom during class, we simply ask that you clean all surfaces after use with the sanitizing wipes provided in the bathroom.
Cancellation Policy - Student cancellations must be made at least one week prior to the class to receive a refund for the class fee. After that date, class fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Any yarn or supplies purchased for the class are subject to our regular return policy3 Kittens may need to cancel a class if not enough people sign up, but we try to provide other options when we can. We may need to reschedule due to weather or teacher illness.
