Thrum Fusion (knit) - beginning Oct 17, Nov 12 or Nov 14



Thrummed mittens or slippers - you choose! Discover how thick, soft, and insulating thrums can make your project. Previous experience making socks, slippers, or mittens helpful.

Skills taught in this class:

  • How to create thrums
  • Adding thrums to your mittens or slippers
Required materials: 
  • Pattern - Cadeautje by Ysolda Teague (~$5.75) or Family Thrummed Mittens by Catherine Vardy (~$6.00)
  • Yarn (purchased separately at 3 Kittens) - 
    • Slippers - bulky weight yarn (eg, Berroco Vintage Chunky) - approx 115-275 yards depending on size
    • Mittens - aran weight (eg, Berroco Mercado or Peace Fleece Worsted) - approx 215 yards
  • Other (purchased separately at 3 Kittens) - one package Artfelt Roving
  • Needles - 
    • Slippers - US 7/4.5mm dpns (can sub long circs for magic loop if preferred)
    • Mittens - US 6/4.0mm dpns (can sub long circs for magic loop if preferred)
  • Notions - knit kit, including stitch markers and scissors

Homework
  • Read through the pattern before class - make notes of any questions you may have and choose the size you wish to make.
  • Cast on 34 sts using US 7 (slippers) or US 6 (mittens); join in the round and knit 3". Do not bind off. Bring to class. 

Meets 3x

Cancellation Policy - Student cancellations must be made at least two weeks prior to the first session to receive a refund for the class fee. After that date, class fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Any yarn or supplies purchased for the class are subject to 3 Kittens' normal return policy. 3 Kittens will only cancel a class if no students have signed up; however, we may need to reschedule due to weather or illness.


Skill Level: intermediate
Skill Details: Be able to knit in the round on both circular and double pointed needles; know how to fix minor mistakes; understand gauge; know basic increases/decreases.

Instructor Bio: Elizabeth joined the 3 Kittens staff in July 2017 as a sales associate and an instructor. She enjoys knitting cables and textures. She has had several designs published which can be found on Ravelry and at www.yarn.com. Elizabeth is a certified Master Knitter.
