Picnic (knit) - Mondays, beginning Oct 7

Knit this vibrant colorwork shawl with Jane! Learn a variety of advanced techniques - brioche tuck stitch, short rows, and a little crochet. The finished project is stunning - whether you pick muted colors or brights, your finished shawl will be a work of art. (Note - you can add beads if desired!) If you have no previous experience with brioche, please consider taking our brioche Tool Box series.

  • Brioche tuck stitch
  • Short row shaping
  • Fixing mistakes in two-color brioche & short rows

Required materials: 
  • Pattern - Picnic by Andree Beddoe ($6.00)
  • Yarn (purchased separately at 3 Kittens) - 1 (sm) or 2 (lg) balls each of 2 colors of Freia Ombre Fingering Shawl Ball (100% wool; 430 yards/ball) and 1 skein of Mrs Crosby Satchel (100% SW merino wool; 370 yards)
  • Needles - US 3/3.25 mm and US 5/3.75mm 32" circular or size to obtain gauge
  • Notions - knit kit, including US C/2.75mm crochet hook, locking st markers, and a single US 8/5.0mm dpn

  • Please complete a swatch as follows - Cast on 30 sts with US 5; work in garter st for 55 rows. Block. Bring to first class.
  • Read entire pattern and write down any questions you may have

Cancellation Policy - Student cancellations must be made at least two weeks prior to the first session to receive a refund for the class fee. After that date, class fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Any yarn or supplies purchased for the class are also not refundable. 3 Kittens will only cancel a class if no students have signed up; however, we may need to reschedule due to weather or illness.

Skill Details: Students should know how to add new yarns; be able to work basic brioche stitch; be comfortable working with charts
Instructor: Jane
Instructor Bio: Jane Piotraschke has worked at 3 Kittens since 2010 as a sales associate and instructor. Jane teaches beginning knitting, basic socks, as well as anything that has a cable, mosaic, short rows. In addition, Jane teaches several studios each month. She is currently working towards the Master Knitter certification with The Knitting Guild of America.
