BEGINNING NEEDLEPOINT All-Day Class - select Saturdays 10:00am-3pm
Join a group of up to six stitchers to learn the basics of this popular creative needle art. Whether you are brand new to needlepoint or need a refresher, this is the class for you. Plan to come to the shop any day before class and we will help you choose a small project (on 13 mesh canvas). Your instructor, Paula, will discuss thread choices in your first class and will help you choose the perfect threads for your canvas. You will need a small embroidery scissors and stretcher bars (available here), and your class purchase includes tapestry needles, a needle threader and our How To Needlepoint Handout. Your instructor will teach you the basic needlepoint stitch (called the Tent Stitch) in Continental (morning session) and then Basketweave (afternoon session). You will also learn how to attach stretcher bars, open a skein of thread, how to begin and end your thread and what order to stitch the different areas in your canvas. Lots of other tips and tricks shared during class - all you need is your enthusiasm to learn something new!
