Paula Rae Schmidt will be leading a group of 8 stitchers on an inspirational stitching experience, working with each person to make stitch and thread suggestions unique to their piece. Plan on bringing a canvas you purchased or ordered from 3 Kittens. We will need your canvas here in the shop by August 1. Paula will bring fresh ideas and inspiration for each student during this 3-Day event, starting with a set of Jump Start suggestions (3-5 areas) for each participant. Paula will continue to work with each person over the course of the three days, adding 3-5 areas per day. Register early to get your spot!

Join a group of up to six stitchers to learn the basics of this popular creative needle art. Whether you are brand new to needlepoint or need a refresher, this is the class for you. Plan to come to the shop any day before class and we will help you choose a small project (on 13 mesh canvas). Your instructor, Paula, will discuss thread choices in your first class and will help you choose the perfect threads for your canvas. You will need a small embroidery scissors and stretcher bars (available here), and your class purchase includes tapestry needles, a needle threader and our How To Needlepoint Handout. Your instructor will teach you the basic needlepoint stitch (called the Tent Stitch) in Continental (morning session) and then Basketweave (afternoon session). You will also learn how to attach stretcher bars, open a skein of thread, how to begin and end your thread and what order to stitch the different areas in your canvas. Lots of other tips and tricks shared during class - all you need is your enthusiasm to learn something new!

Join us at 3 Kittens for a special class taught by local ceramic artist Debbie Wolk. You will design and paint your own "ort dish" - a small 4" dish to place all your little thread snippets next to your stitching spot. Class Fee includes everything - the ceramic dish, class time, and all painting supplies. Also included is the glazing and firing process which Debbie will do in the weeks following class. She will bring your finished dishes back to the shop for you to pick up on or before April 1. Plan on bringing your own ideas from Pinterest or Instagram or be inspired by some of Debbie's designs!

Laura Taylor is coming to 3 Kittens to teach this gorgeous Autumn Wreath by Melissa Shirley. This 2-day class follows her 3-day canvas embellishment class. Why take a project class? Paula knows a number of techniques for creating realistic and beautiful silk ribbon flowers and leaves and lots of tips for working with this beautiful textile.
