Welcome to 3 Kittens Needle Arts!  We are a full-service needlework store, serving customers for over 30 years.  We cater to knitters, needlepointers and crocheters with over 1000 yarns, hundreds of knitting and crochet patterns, a large selection of hand-painted canvasses and needlepoint threads, buttons and other accessories to make your craft more enjoyable, and many classes to stimulate your imagination. 

3 Kittens will be closed Sunday, August 31, and Labor Day, Monday, September 1.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Move Update

3 Kittens is moving to The Village @ Mendota Heights, located at the intersection of Dodd Rd and Hwy 110 in Mendota Heights (on the northeast corner - click here for a map).  The new store is only a few minutes away from our current location - just one exit south on 35E and less than a mile east from there. 

We will be moving over Labor Day weekend - August 30 - September 1.  On Saturday, the 30th, the needlepoint and needlearts supply area will be moved along with our office, breakroom and kitchen.  We will be open at the old location in the knitting/crochet area only. We will be closed on Sunday and Labor Day, August 31 and September 1.  We will open again at the new location on September 2!

Here's some more info about the new location in case you haven't been over there yet:

  • Our neighbors include Sage Market and Wine Bar, E's Cheese, Caribou Coffee, Coldstone Creamery, Snyder's Pharmacy, Anytime Fitness, Verizon Wireless and more.
  • Parking is available on-street and in a lot behind the store (follow the covered archway to the front of the building for entrance to the store), plus there is underground parking accessible through a ramp at the back of our building on the east end (use the elevator or stairs to access the ground level then enter through the front door) - plenty of parking and all within easy walking distance.
  • During the summer months, outdoor concerts and movies are held on the green in front of our store.

Pam Allen is the creative director at Classic Elite Yarns.  She sources yarns, chooses palettes and pulls together a sweater collection to showcase Classic Elite yarns twice each year.  From 2003 to 2007, she was the editor of Interweave Knits magazine.  She's the author of Scarf Style, and co-author of Wrap Style, Lace Style, Bag Style and the soon-to-be-published Color Style.  She also wrote Knitting for Dummies and is feature in Melanie Falick's Knitting in America.  Pam lives in Portland, Maine.  Pam will provide commentary on the fashion show garments during the cruise, as well as teach a workshop on her "Fresco Fair Isle Mitts" from the Fall 2008 issue of Interweave Knits.

Think Outside the SOX Contest

3 Kittens is a Sox Hot Spot for the new XRX "Think Outside the Sox" contest.  This is a year-long competition to design socks in many different categories, some sponsored by yarn companies, and others by XRX (the publisher of Knitters magazine as well as myriad books).  3 Kittens is a Hot Spot for Knitters magazine, Colinette, Skacel, Southwest Trading Company, Mountain Colors and Regia.  Come in for inspiration and materials for your new Hot Sox!

Guild Discounts

We now offer a 10% discount to any guild member.  This includes local guilds (Minnesota Knitters Guild, St Paul Embroiderer's Guild, etc.), national guilds (such as The Knitting Guild of America, the Crochet Guild of America, etc.) and The National Needle Arts Association.  You must show your membership card to receive the discount.  This offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, including 3K Club Membership discounts.

We have a number of trunk shows coming up.  As always, yarns and canvasses of the companies featured will be 15% off during the run of each trunk show.  Please call in advance if you are coming for the first day of the show to make sure it has arrived!
